  • The grain itself has a very tough husk which is expensive to mill, however this husk helps retain its nutrients and protects it from insects and disease so growers can generally avoid using pesticides.
  • High in fibre approx 4.7% compared to 2.6% on standard white.
  • High in carbohydrates and proteins - 14% compared to 8.5% on standard white.
  • Some gluten-sensitive people have been able to include this product in their diet.
